Before you leave house, please make sure that you have the following documentations with you

1) Passport
2) Signed indemnity form
3) Matric card

To clear some doubts, hand-carry luggage is okay, just avoid bringing the trolley type as it may be a bit inconvenient for you. Also, we'll be checking in to the hotel before starting our activities so no worries, we won't be carrying our barang barang around.

We'll meet at Golden Mile Complex at 7.15am, please be there on time! See you tomorrow!

Hello everyone! Long time no see/talk/touch!

Our trip is just 13 DAYS away! Ta-dah! Are you excited as we are?

Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur... Hands up, those who have not been there before. Don’t be shy coz it’s virgin trip for some of us too! :) What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of KL ? Signature Petronas Twin Tower, durians, or busy city?

Just an interesting fact that we got from Wikipedia, KL actually means a muddy city!

Oh well, oh well… Names and the actual sometimes mismatch. We don’t really see lions walking everywhere in Singapore, do we? Look at this muddy city!

How pretty? :) we can see that with our very own eyes sooooon! Haha. And for this trip, we’ve got everything planned for you - OTOT nightlife included! (p/s: don’t go toooo wild! :) ) Food makes me excited too.. :D~

Yay. Sorry to keep you guys waiting. We know we have MIA-ed for a very long time but that's course we have been busy behind the scenes planning for the next trip after our fantabulous expedition to the Land of Smiles have been ruined by some blood stained t-shirts.

But its ok! Our next trip is equally, if not even more, fantabulous than the original one =DDD

WE ARE GOING TO KUALA LUMPUR MALAYSIA!

This new expedition to the North will be 4 days long of fun and exhilaration. Check out the itinerary!

DAY 1

We will be having an Amazing Race with our SOE Chair Loh Wee Leong as the host - right into the action on our very first day! Be prepared to gallop through different cities in Malaysia to complete all kinds of challenging challenges. But don't worry, our race has been planned in such a way that even The Fabulous Moolah, with her thick make-up and flabby body parts constricted in her tight, leathery clothing can complete it without a sweat. So, you can do it too!

DAY 2

The Amazing Race continues. You will get to experience the vibrant culture of as we traverse the country. The Race is expected to end around mid-day, after which, it will be R&R time for everybody. We will be heading down to Times Square and Mid-Valley Mega Mall for all your shopping and chilling needs.

DAY 3

We will be heading to Sunway Lagoon, Malaysia's first international standard theme park. With attractions such as giant water slides, twin speed slides, waterfall garden and lagoon express, you will be guaranteed a day of cooling escape from the blistering weathers nowadays. At night, we will be going to the night life district of Kuala Lumpur to party our brains away!

Day 4

After we recovered from our hangovers and what not, we will be heading home!

So, don't worry. We still have a wonderful trip planned for you. And we will be refunding some money to you guys when we meet you. And for those who haven't joined us yet already, we strongly encouraged you to!!!

HELLO ONE AND ALL!

Welcome back from the exams! :) We have a looooong holiday of 4 months, so let's make full use of it! What's better than joining SOE for an overseas expedition?

For the Thailand trip, we're very sorry to announce that the venue has been changed to somewhere else, due to the political unrest in Thailand currently.

We know some of you may be very disappointed, but WORRY NOT! The trip will still be on (YAY!), and better still, at a CHEAPER PRICE of only SGD$200! Yes, you see it right! $200, almost half the price! :)

We'll also put in our 1000% effort in making this trip as good as the one we've planned previously - or even better! Although the venue has been changed, we promise the essence of the trip will be still fun, fun and more FUN! :)

We'll be going to somewhere closer to home.. Do check this space again, haha.

Here's a very brief update: We'll be building houses for the less fortunate - it helps you build good karma, and it'd be so much fun doing it together!

Date of the trip: 19th - 26th July 2010 (pls note that the date has been pushed back a day later!)
Price: $380 per pax (we will be collecting a deposit of $200 first)

Goooood day everyone!

Betcha all are very excited about our trip to Thailand, we are too! We'll be taking a break for a few days due to the Chinese New Year Celebrations!

Go visit relatives, friends and strangers to get more angbaos! But dont forget to bring your oranges :D

Heard over radio that it's good to wear red undergarments on the very first day of CNY! Playing mahjong and card games? Huatttt ah!!

Never mind the fact that all of the players are actually wearing red undergarments too..

If you don't already know, the Chinese people wear red in the past to scare away Year, which is supposedly a destructive monster. It's scared of the lion dance and firecrackers too. Thus, people put red decorations inside and outside their house.. which explains why our houses are dressed ang gong gong-ly during CNY! :D

No firecrackers though, for we'll all be fined. Oh! That reminds me of a video, check this out! (Do bear till the very last part! ^^)

The English translation is a bit off, but still understandable. Hahaha, I re-watched a number of times, hope you found that funny too!

And Valentines Day coincidentally falls on the same date this year too! (To blog about this I went to google v-day..) and found out that valentines was anciently greeting cards that people send to each other to declare their love! <3

We are flying to...

THAILAND!!!

Thailand, otherwise known as the Land of Smiles, is a country of scenic diversity and ancient traditions, of tranquil temples and modern urban excitement. With an independent history going back more than seven centuries, it has managed to absorb a variety of cultural influences and blend them into something uniquely and memorably Thai.

When people talk about Thailand, the first thing that comes to mind is that it is a hotspot for us during our vacations and holidays thanks to its super-duper cheap prices, which makes it a shopping paradise for girls and metrosexual guys. And then there are the traditional streetside stalls selling those sinfully delicious food at economical prices. Who doesn't like good stuff at cheap prices? But hey, there is more to Thailand than its shopping arcades and nice foods.

First up, we have the seductively beautiful PATTAYA BEACH! (Islander? What is that?) This 5km long stretch of sand, sea, crabs, shell and bikini-clad entities is the perfect place for you to put on your swim suit and bask in the warmth of the sun. Or take a dip in the refreshing sea. Or build a sand castle. Or get buried in a sand bath. Or pick up seashells for your significant other. Whatever you do, you can count on the sun to give you a healthy tan at the end of the day!

Think that the beach is too hot for you? Well then come get wet in the Hin Phoeng rapids!

When you are traveling at speeds up to 70km/h and going through rocks with water splashing at you in all directions without a steering wheel and brakes, all you can do is CHIONG AH and scream your hearts out. Do try to scream with your mouth as wide though because if you are lucky, you might catch a fish!

Now let enter the realm of the Buddha at Sukhothai Historical Park. This World Heritage Site was once part of the capital of the first Thai Kingdom back in ancient times. If you feel that praying in local temples aren't working out for you, why not try praying here when you are in Thailand with us? Whether is it that A- which you are working hard to get or boy-girl relationship issues, as long as you pray sincerely, I am sure Buddha will be with you.

America has Wal-Mart, France has Carrefour, we have NTUC and Thailand has the floating market! With the river water just a few inches beneath you, you get to enjoy the same air-conditioned, cool environment in the other modern supermarkets as well. Furthermore, the items are priced very cheaply and they have a wide variety of selection as well. Most importantly, you can haggle with the seller to get even better prices for you. And if the auntie refuses to accept your haggle, you can always splash water in her boat and row away!

Your friend thinks he has a raging bull in his Lamborghini. Well you can tell him to make way for your towering elephant! Yeap, we are going elephant riding in Thailand. Elephants used to be a major form of transport before the rivers and roads were discovered. They are still used these days especially in Thailand's dense forest and broad rivers where it is virtually impassable by other modern modes of transport. One of the best way to explore Thailand's natural wonders and be at one with mother nature is by elephants.

There are many, many activities that we can do! We can go river fishing at Malaysia's longest river, trekking & camping in forests, heh. There are several national parks too! Best for animal lovers.

We won't forget shopping here too! In Sarawak, we can visit Pasar Serikin, where many affordable clothes and accessories are sold!

PHILIPPINES

Yay for us, their official languages are Pilipino and English! Which means we won't have much language barrier. It's capital? Manila. and what's there in Manila?

Manila Bay! Not Marina Bay. Why do all the sunsets look so awesome overseas?!

Across ~~Marina~~ Malina Bay sits Correigidor, an island fortress which houses much of World War 2 memorials. There are a number of fine churches there too. Good chance for us to learn something new again, eh?

We can find the hidden valley!
..and it's also possible to explore dormant volcanoes nearby! Sounds adventurous enough, no? Hope that they don't activate when we go closer, if not it's really Hallelujah for us. Haha!

Yes, we can see you all gleaming in joy! It's a shopping paradise after all, right!? Yes! And it burns a hole in our pockets too if we're not careful. Apart from shopping (and its 'eye-opening' politics), we can go sightseeing and culture learning!

Alishan! You can see cherry blossoms here too! During spring time in April - a good choice if you're too poor to go Japan. Awesome sight.

Very different from our very own sunny Singapore though! They have many water sports activities that we can take part in as a group, like snorkeling, banana-boating, as well as fishing tour!

How about a trip to Dr. Fish's?
Have you tried it before? It's not painful, but slight ticklish. Slight. And it removes your dead skin! Which means we don't have to exfoliate ourselves before putting on moistuizors etc! A good experience really.

Hainan, hainan.. The first thing that came to our mind was none other than the authentic hainan chicken rice! Perfect for you if you're a light taster.

A rather exotic country, no?

Some people travel for food. And here, they can find:
Yes! Fried spiders, scorpions and whatever you want (Is it just me? I actually see fried cockroaches in the photo!). Heard that they are indeed rather juicy.. Great for the adventurous. Not really for the weak-stomach-ed though. Maybe it's a good suggestion to bring back some when your friends pester you for souvenir.. It'll be a surrrrprise!

Well well. there are really normal food there! :)

You can also get to see things you can't see in Singapore, like:

We really have to bargain like aunties there so pick up the skills from your mother/relatives soon! And one special thing to note, the owners will not give a discount if you're the first costumer of the day, as they believe that a money fully earned at the start of the day will bring good luck & fortune for the rest of the day.

That aside, most Cambodians are really friendly!

The capital of Cambodia is Phnom Penh. English is seldom spoken here. Aside from its capital, most tourists also go to Siem Reap where you can see the one of the world's greatest wonders, the Angkor temples!

We can watch rise together..Damn chio? We agree!

SOE Canvassing #2 - xi shua shua!

Hey guys, welcome back to school, and hall! :)

Before the official re-opening of school (perhaps a million dreads?), the SOE committee went for our second canvassing event - car washing! Xi shua shua, xi shua shua.

It was ~~very~~ rather early in the morning when we start. We have with us our cleaning agent!.. and sponges.

3. To not let the irritating SWINE disturb us, please remember to inform any SOE member (or if you can remember, to JIALING / YUANMING) if you are having FLU, DIARRHOEA or VOMMITTING before we depart and during the trip, REMEMBERRRRRR!

4. Familiarise yourself with the origami paper arts for CIP (SO THAT WE CAN ALL EXCITE THE KIDS!!: D)

Bao Dai's Summer Palace:

Bao Dai was the last emperor of Vietnam. The Summer Palace was built by the French but has a modern feel to it. A visit to his home gives you an insight to how Vietnamese royalty lived in the 1930s.

Crazy house:

This house has few right angles with unexpected twists and turns at every corner. The misshapen windows make it look like a fairy tale house. The brainchild of Ms Dang Viet Nga who drew inspiration from Da Lat's natural surroundings.

Valley Of Love:

The Valley of Love is the Vietnam honeymoon destination. It has been called the Niagara Falls of Vietnam.
